The grace and elegant style of Witt captured the eyes of everyone and she has been a dominant figure skater ever since. Olympic triumph Katarina Wit was awarded gold medals in women's ice skating during the Sarajevo Winter Games 1984 after a fiercely competitive competition. The victory she won four years earlier was even closer. Witt actually fell short of the free skating competition, but earned the gold medal based on her performances during the compulsory figure and the short-form program. Witt was the only female since Sonja Haenie to win an apex figure skater. Hall of Fame After enjoying great success in the field of acting, Witt returned to the figure skating sport to take part in the 1994 Lillehammer Winter Games. Despite not winning an award for gold, the young skater was a hit with the spectators. Witt was elected to the World Figure Skating Hall of Fame in the year 1995.
