Humans are adults, or animals is one that has grown to its full potential. If used in conjunction with human beings, the term "adult" could mean anything that is related to legal or social concepts. As opposed to "minor" or "non-adult" legally-aged adult is an individual that has reached the age of majority. They are thought to be competent, responsible and independent. Legal adults can also be referred to as a major. Age 18 is the legal adult age, however, this definition may differ according to the nation, lawful rights or the development of a person's psychological.

In the lifespan of human beings adulthood is the age in which the person attains full physical and intellectual maturity. The age of adulthood typically begins when a person reaches the age of 21. Then, after middle age (starting about 40 years old) then comes older age (around the age of 60). The three major stages of adulthood include early adulthood (from mid-30s to late-60s), middle adulthood from mid-30s to late-60s and later adulthood, (mid-60s through death). By the time we reach early adulthood (20 to early 40s) our physical growth is complete, although our height and weight could increase a bit. As we enter the first years of our adulthood, we're physically and mentally at the peak. Muscle strength, response timing, the ability to sense as well as cardiac function, all hit their highest levels.
